As much as it pains me to write anything that may be construed as in any way defending our multiply-criminal Bush Administration, when the Hurricane Katrina accusations fly thick and fast, it will be worthwhile for the cognoscenti to bear in mind the first corollary to Caine's Law:

Whenever somebody tells you things are simple, they're trying to sell you something.

And that, my friends, is about as far as I'm gonna go into the Who's At Fault business, too.

It seems to me that yes, some people may be overzealous in certain criticisms lately. Even of Bush.

But:

There are questions here that deserve answers. Like, why is FEMA headed by a guy who to me looks like a pure unqualified crony?

Anyway, given that tragic shitstorms have in the past given Bush unearned credit, I'm not too sad if he gets some unearned blame.

OK, this is not a post-Katrina blog, although the whole situation is beyond disturbing. On a positive note, my pastor (A.R.Bernard), is actually going to meet with Bill Clinton and discuss how the city should be rebuilt so that the previous system of keeping certain sectors of people in poverty will no longer exist, and everyone will have the same access to housing, etc.

ANYWAY, Mr. Stover...I just HAD to write you a thank-you note for writing Revenge of the Sith. I just finished it tonight, and could barely put it down. I've read your other SW novels also and really love the depth you travel to help us know what's really going on in these characters' heads! When I saw the movie, I couldn't connect, and for some reason I felt really detached from the whole thing. As an avid SW fan that was pretty disappointing.:( But after reading your book, it all makes sense now! Your book is everything I wanted the movie to be, and I feel that when I see the movie again, it will not be as hollow, because I'll be thinking about your book while I'm watching!

Thanks again, and please keep writing!

God bless,
Rebekah Griffin:)

"...the 49% of Americans who have been complaining for five years about George W. Bush being a dictator are now vexed to the point of utter incoherence because for the last fortnight he has failed to do a sufficiently convincing impression of a dictator."
